The Tate Modern is situated within the striking Bankside Power Station, a former power station to the north of the Thames in the Waterloo district. It attracts nearly 5 million visitors a year, making it the most visited contemporary art museum in the world. The permanent exhibitions are free for the general public to visit and include exhibitions from Damien Hirst, Salvador Dalí, Pablo Picasso and Piet Mondrian.
