Save to your city mapEscape out of the city to the Royal Botanic Garden, situated just over a mile from the centre of Edinburgh. The gardens were first established in 1670 near Holyrood Palace with the intention of growing medicinal plants. It was moved to its current location, Inverleith, in 1763 where it remains today. They boast a fantastic range of plants and collections including the Alpines, the Arboretum, the Chinese Hillside, the Peat Walls, the Rock Garden and the Scottish Heath Garden. A picturesque spot, make the most of it and visit on a sunny day.
