Visit one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and discover the historic elegance that is Edinburgh. Head down into the Old Town for the historic core of the old city and walk along the famous Royal Mile. Divided into four sections, start at the top of Castle Hill with Edinburgh castle which dates back to the twelfth century. Then follow the street through the Lawn Market to the High Street which is the heart of the Royal Mile and where you will find many pubs, restaurants, and shops. Continue on and finish at Holyrood Palace, that it is still used by the Royal Family, and has been on the location in various forms since 1128.
Spend the evenings in one of the many pubs and restaurants, which are sociable and welcoming, and get to know the locals! A trip to Scotland is not complete without trying haggis, and you will find reasonably-priced excellent quality haggis across the city. Edinburgh is also known for its fantastic festivals, and the city is taken over every August by seven different festivals including the Fringe. Head to the largest arts festival in the worlds and enjoy hundreds of shows and events. New Year is also a fantastic time to visit the city, with the traditional Hogmany celebrations.
